Reunion 2007 - Orlando, FL
June 20-24, 2007

To all Diamond (1965-66) and Darkhorse (1966-73) personnel that served with us in Vietnam it is time to get together again.

Two years ago, 117 of us gathered in San Antonio, TX. Two years before that, 115 of us reunited in Atlanta, GA. This year we’d like to beat those numbers.

As usual, we are gathering under the umbrella of the VHCMA (Vietnam Helicopter Crew Members Assoc.) and their annual gathering. The location for this year’s get together is Orlando, FL. The host hotel is the Orlando Wyndham Resort. The VHCMA has negotiated a fair rate of $99.00/nite, tax included. The info for hotel reservations is here.

The VHCMA reunion registration form is here. You DO NOT have to be a member of the Association to attend. I will ask that you pay the registration fees at the minimum. This helps the association cover the costs of the FREE beer, sodas, coffee, & water supplied in the main hospitality room. It also helps cover the cost of providing us w/ our own unit hospitality room.

So far, there are about 5 dozen of us planning on being there. The ARPs (security) platoon and the Outcasts from 1969 have stated they will be there in force (again), and challenge the other platoons from all years to do the same.

So, bring the family (I’m taking my grand daughter) and make it a mini-vacation as well. We look forward to seeing and or meeting you.

As a post-script, those that served w/ Darkhorse after we became the 16th Cav, will find a membership application to the 16th Cavalry Association as well. This group is mostly WW II vets and are looking for our participation to keep there organization going. Granted, they were Light Armored Recon scouts for the most part then. But, it’s time they met their Aviation Brothers. I’ve been to their reunions in the past and it’s quite interesting as well as fun.
